Tigridia: a flash of beauty

Meet: Tigridia
This flower blooms for one day, then quietly folds back into herself.

And another will bloom from the stalk, for a new day.

I think she is asking us to pay attention
(if we are listening, if we are noticing- for she does not shout)
I know some people who ask this as well.

Perhaps that is what being present-
alive inside our own experience,
our own frail, petal skin-
is about.

"What I want to say is
that the past is the past,
and the present is what your life it,
and you are capable of
choosing what that will be,
darling citizen."
(Mary Oliver)
